It is the time for people to thanks mothers and mother figures who took the time care for them and help them through life’s challenges.Carnations are a popular Mother's Day symbol in the United States. Some people may choose to wear a carnation as a brooch on Mother's Day.

Mother's Day around the world

In most countries Mother's Day is celebrated on the second Sunday in May, among them the USA, Canada, most European countries, Australia, New Zealand, India, China, Japan, the Philippines and South Africa. One notable exception to this rule are the UK and Ireland, which celebrate Mother's Day on the fourth Sunday in Lent.
